Pot of Gold

This year to celebrate the day of luck and good fortune, brought about by little green men and one Saint Patrick, we had a fun and educational family night. Because Leprechauns LOVE their gold we decided to talk about money management and tithing. We started off by giving the kids 10 lucky charm cereal pieces and then asked them to give us one back, and of course tying it into our lesson on tithing. We played with pretend GIANT coins trying to figure out what we were going to do with our fortune. The kids decided to save a lot, spend a little, and give 10% to tithing. We also decorated our chore charts where the wee ones will be earning a dollar or two. From the lucky leprechaun they got a green Tootsie Roll "tithing" money bank to store their tithing in. I remember having these banks when I was a kid myself! The kids are busy going about the house trying to find those leprechauns that keep changing their food green and messing things up!
Happy ST. PATRICK'S day!
