Sunny Days at Moon Lake

Mountain getaways are a Snyder favorite. So we took my parents, the Carters along to enjoy the great outdoors. Moon lake is just a short three hour drive into the beautiful Uintah Mountains. When we arrived at the cabin "resort", I use that term loosely, we were greeted by the sweet hippie owners. Bill was immediately referring to us as Kris and Spence, like we were old time friends. We stayed in the rustic cabins and I have to admit we felt a little back country. But that is the point right. My parents had a lovely rustic cabin down the dirt road with a fire pit that we could see the lake from. So we hung out there while we cooked and roasted marshmallows. It was a quick two night trip but we did manage to get in a hike around the lake, sunbathing on the beach, boating, and fishing. There was a great sandy beach along the lake. But instead of seashells Brighton was finding colorful glass mixed in the sand. A dangerous collection for sure. But there were no cuts and he was quite entertained. Where the glass came from I am not sure. We rented a little fish boat to cruise around the lake on and had quite an exciting landing as we sped full speed toward shore only to find the engine would not kill. Wow, I am sure all the sun bathers were frightened. But the engine did kill just in the nick of time. Stella did not go out on the boat again. With my mom along we ate really well. The fire coals cooked up a great salmon dinner. And to top of the great meal we indulged in a camping must, peach cobbler. It was a great weekend of playing at the lake by day and seeing a lot of stars by night around the campfire. I was glad to share it with my family.
