Super Deluxe Spring Break

We got really lucky and had very spring like weather for our Spring Break trip to Capitol Reef and Goblin Valley with our good friends the Burbanks. This was our second stay at Thousand Lakes Campground and both times have been a positive experience. But this time we upgraded from a camping cabin with no bathroom to a "deluxe" cabin with a bathroom, fridge, and microwave. Our friends got the "super deluxe" cabin with the full kitchen of which turned out to be a trailer with log wood built around it. We got a good laugh out of the super deluxe cabin but they were great accommodations and perfect for camping with kids. Back in our newlywed days we went on many back country trips with Jen and Jer but this was our first outdoor trip with our three additions each making SIX small children. They were best buddies and such troopers. They hiked long and hard. With a lot of play and romping around the rocks. We left each morning around 9:30 and didn't return until at least seven. We had intended to cook dinner but ended up eating at a great little pizza/burger joint both nights because we were to tuckered out to cook. But we did manage to play in the campground park and cook smores in the evening. The blooms were beautiful in the orchards at the base of the red rock canyons of Capitol Reef and it felt quite nice to be hiking in 60-70 degree weather. We did have some scrapes and tears as is expected with six kids and miles of hiking. Miles ran and jumped off everything he could get too. He has a few battle wounds. Brighton was a little under the weather so he mostly hung close to mom and the backpack but enjoyed his time among the red rock. Stella was instantly best buddies with cute Luke and they had a great time exploring and partying in the cabin. We had three tired and a little grumpy kids on the way home but it is all worth the effort to look back on the happy memories of our "super deluxe" spring break!

That was fun. You are so ahead of me to have blogged about it already! Luke was totally missing your kids, especially Miss Stella, on the way home. If you have any good pics (like that one of my fam in the slot canyon) send them my way. Now we just need to get together before another year passes by! Thanks for the great company on our super deluxe trip.
