I really love camping with my kids. We always travel hours away before we pitch our tent but this was the summer we finally just set up camp in our "backyard". We went up American Fork Canyon only about a 45 minute drive to Timpanooke campground but it felt like we were in another world! We love Timpanogas Mountain and have had many wonderful memories climbing that old hill. So we were so happy to find our site to have a perfect view of Timp and right next to a bubbling stream. The wildflowers were in full bloom all around us and wildlife spotted on occasion. We took a long hike to Scout Falls where the kids did a whole lot of complaining the first half. That was until we reached the first of several little water falls and the trail became covered in lush green plants and flowers. Then their spirits were rejuvenated and we made it all four miles. We played an awful lot of UNO and the kids are always obsessed with where they are going to sleep. They are at the perfect age, still young enough to love camping and old enough to be independent. We are looking forward to many summers in the mountains that surround us.
